Mandli is the form serious Ahmedabad dancers wait for. A tighter circle, faster footwork, live dhol rather than a DJ, and a start time that assumes you are staying past midnight.
It is not a beginner format — the circle moves at a pace that punishes hesitation — but it is the closest thing in the city to Garba as a discipline rather than an event.
Mandli sections typically begin around or after midnight, once the general floor has thinned.
The rhythm is played, not programmed. Tempo shifts happen live and the circle follows.

A Mandli circle is a fraction of that, moves considerably faster, and changes rhythm on the dhol player rather than on a track. The result is a floor where everyone is at roughly the same level, which is exactly why experienced dancers seek it out.
Premium Mandli events cap attendance and charge accordingly — the point is a circle that never gets diluted. Standard Mandli sections at larger grounds are free with your existing pass but depend on how many people stay past midnight on that particular night. Both are listed here; the price tells you which is which.

Most Ahmedabad venues begin their Mandli section around or after midnight. Events billed as premium Mandli often start their whole programme late, at 9:00 or 10:00 PM.
